William and Kate pose on Taj Mahal bench

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have sat together around the bench for the Taj Mahal in India where Diana, Princess of Wales, was pictured 24 in years past.

Prince William and Catherine posed on the mausoleum in Agra within the final day of their tour of India and Bhutan.

William's mother was captured sitting alone while you're watching monument to enjoy in 1992, shortly prior to break up of her marriage towards the Prince of Wales.

Royal officials said the duke and duchess hoped to forge new memories.

The couple were seeing the Taj Mahal after flying returning to India from Bhutan.

It would have been a day whenever a new royal narrative was written at India's Taj Mahal.

The Diana photographs captured isolation; a princess soon to loosen her ties on the monarchy.

Today, her son, a prince, brought his wife for the Indian monument to like - something his father promised and failed related to his first wife.

Here would be a duke plus a duchess who appeared comfortable together as well as in their own skins.

Tourists for the World Heritage Site are relayed through their guides concerning the "Diana bench". It's a talk that may have to be updated. Fresh memories happen to be created.

In searing temperatures of 41C (106F) they walked through the causes to a marble plinth and sat down for the bench when in front of a bank of photographers.

They were later given an exclusive tour inside mausoleum.

Earlier, the Cambridge's communications secretary Jason Knauf said: "The Duke of Cambridge is certainly aware of the esteem his mother, the late Princess of Wales, is stuck in India and that he appreciates the status on the images that exist on the Princess with the Taj.

"He feels incredibly lucky to travel to a place where his mother's memory is kept alive by a great number of who travel there.

"Twenty-four years on from her visit on the Taj, the duke as well as the duchess are seeking forward to seeing this beautiful spot for themselves and creating result-oriented memories reported by users thank you for the people of India with the conclusion of this tour."

The Taj Mahal was built from the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan inside mid-17th Century being a monument of love to his favourite wife, Mumtaz Mahal.

It took 22 a number of 20,000 men to create it from white marble transported from 200 miles away by elephants.
